The Farmer-Veteran Coalition (FVC), a project of Community Partners and proud member of Coalition for Iraq + Afghanistan Veterans (CIAV) announces:
What: Our first regional Food and Farming Veteran Career Fair
When: Friday, March 5. 9 a.m. to 4 p.m
Where: Veterans Memorial Building, 1351 Maple Avenue, Santa Rosa, CA
The purpose of the event is to connect returning veterans with viable jobs, internships, training programs and two and four year colleges in the food and farming industry throughout Northern California as well as to offer assistance to those starting their own farms and businesses.
Organizing Partners include: North Bay Veterans Resource Center, Santa Rosa; Veteran Business Outreach Center, Sacramento; Swords to Plowshares, San Francisco; and AgrAbility Program, UC Davis.
Organizing Sponsors are: California FarmLink, Community Alliance with Family Farmers, Marin Organic, Sonoma County Farm Bureau, Sonoma County Winegrape Commission, and Sonoma County Vintners.
Educational Partners will include Santa Rosa Junior College, College of Marin, Sonoma State University, University of California at Davis, the Culinary Institute of America, St. Helena and U.C. Agricultural Extension Service.
Welcoming remarks by Cathy Neville, Sonoma County Ag Commissioner.
Event is free with lunch provided. The Coming Home Project will offer on-site counseling to all veterans. Help provided with resume preparations prior to event.
